Never forget these simple life lessons, and I will bring each and every one of em up here, as it sums up my day:
- Its never cool to park on Addison Street during a Cubs game.... The driver found Mayor Daley's "Support my salary" ticket 'donation' on the hood of his car, screamed obscenities too many to name... I told him "You didn't know there was a Cubs game going on?" Please note, this took place on Addison + Wilton, not the smartest place to ever park a car... The guy was a moron, apparently.
- Never ever ever EVER be impaired while at the wheel ... seriously. This includes alcohol, cell phones, food, makeup, and now --- toy poodles... Yes, toy poodles... You heard me... Let me explain...
I was minding my own business going to the Center on Halsted and passing by, oddly enough, Wilton again... This time, I was walking across on Waveland. I look both ways, seemed safe enough, since a majority of the Cubs fans were also leaving at the time. Nothing seemed to be around on Wilton... Then, all of a sudden, this Lexus comes up pretty fast and doesn't see the stop sign ahead of her or the fact I was halfway walking across on the pedestrian crosswalk. It's not hard to spot someone with a backpack on, is it? It could be if you've got a cell phone in one hand and your toy poodle on the other hand. Luckily for me, I was staring straight at her and telling her off. I'm sorry, but while you are driving, you shouldn't be caring for your animal. I know pets are a great thing to have, but in the car, on the driver's hands in the process of the vehicle moving???? Apparently, that's legal in the City of Chicago.
With this in mind, I can't forget today's last lesson:
- As a pedestrian, regardless of where it is, always look both ways before you cross the street.
Oh, and speaking of the Center on Halsted.... check out this week's Nightspots, which is where I got mine. I made an appearance alongside
mcfires and our friend Martin in one of the pictures. We're on Page 17, middle section... Thanks, Verdell, for the shot. I look cute in it.
