Yeah I know it was yesterday, and in today's Chicago Tribune, but hey, I never thought I'd have caught it til I found out for myself.
For those who haven't seen it, I doubt the IOC will bitch and complain about this one. I personally love it and it looks very prideful.... cept its also a concept I'd have come up with as well... Hehe... Here it is...
Here's the website, for those who don't know it:
http://www.chicago2016.org/ Enjoy it, Chicago!
This is something that, should it happen, will be something never to forget. Trust me on that.
Unfortunately, I missed the 1984 Games back in Los Angeles, as I was 3 at the time. However, I got to hold the official Olympic Torch in 2002 ... not just stare at it ... I actually got to carry it, albeit for only a few seconds ... during the run to Salt Lake City, and trust me, that sucker is heavy and I mean with a capital h!!! I don't know how these people do it when they run with it, but they're remarkable.
Theres also past histories around Los Angeles that is reminiscent of the Games being there in Los Angeles, but its hard to relate to, since I was never a part of the experience... Yeah, the Coliseum rocked, but all that really remains of the Games there are the torch, the memorials around and the seating with the old stars logo attached.
Either way, this is something that I know we can win. I believe in us all to win this awesome opportunity to showcase Chicago to the world!
Voting on the final candidate city will be on October 2, 2009 in Copenhagen.
