Ryo had been sitting in his room for the past hour, writing this song. His safe haven has now become his worst nightmare. He thought that writing a song would make him forget everything; he would be lost in the world he would want to live in, where he is with his most beloved.

The day this all had started, they were drunk and after a day of concerts and fangirls, they had let everything go. Stumbling into Ryo’s hotel room, they hastily undressed each other. Falling onto the bed, Shige had looked up. Ryo was obviously drunk. “I’m drunk.”
“So am I.”
“O-ok.” And with that, Ryo crashed his lips onto Shige’s and swiftly, his hands went down to Shige’s pants palming the growing bulge, and kissed his way down.

You know the holidays are coming up
I don't want to spend them alone
Memories of Christmas time with you
will just kill me if I'm on my own
“Hey, Merry Christmas. Wake up, it’s snowing outside.”
“Mnnn. Let me sleep.”
“But Ryo-chan, it’s Christmas! And it’s snowing outside.”
“No.” As soon as he said that, he had lifted the covers and pulled Shige back into his arms and didn’t let go until it was time for the Christmas party with NEWS.

The first time Ryo realizes that he has fallen deep for Shige was when Pi had opened his big mouth and said something along the lines of Ryo-chan, you’re really happy these days. And as Shige walks by with his hair in all directions, See? You don’t even make fun of Shige anymore!

But with all my inspiration gone it's not getting me very far
I look around my room and everything I see reminds me of you

Everything in Ryo’s house reminds him of Shige. The kitchen where he used to cook and fillet his catch, the couch where they had cuddled and on the odd days that Shige brought Nana over, it would lie on the little carpet. Their breakfast table, where Shige had read the newspapers and had done some last minute studying in the mornings, was by the door. The desk in his room that used to be cluttered in law and sometimes, even the bedroom floor would be covered.

Each year, NEWS releases an album and it was that time of year again. Ryo had always had his solos in the CD and this time’s no exception. The rest of NEWS going through demos and seeing which one would seem the best for their album and Ryo solo starts playing. Everyone stops to listen. But one person in particular is frozen. The song starting to slowly forcing tears to swell up in his eyes. And as he blinked, the tear had dropped to the sheet of paper in front of him. And looking up, Shige sees the man he loves the man that used to be his lover.
By the time half the song had played Ryo felt like he was being read like an open book. Open for the world to analyze his feelings. So he ran out. Out of the room and out to the fire escape stairs. As Shige follows him out of the room yelling, “Ryo!” the rest of the room were confused. Contraire to Ryo’s beliefs, they weren’t able to read him like an open book, he was still the snarky person who just writes really good solos. Only Shige was able to understand that the song was about them.
Up on the fire escape stairs, Shige had finally caught up to Ryo. Panting, he sat beside the Osakan and waited until his breath was even. “I ran from our dressing room all the way to here and you’re just going to ignore me? If you’ve got something to say then say it. Don’t say it in a song!” Then Shige had pulled Ryo by his collar and kissed him.
