The Best Tuesday ever

Tonight I went to see Les Mis with some amazing people. Stephanie, Katelin, Alyssa, and I went to Cottage Inn and then went and saw Les Mis. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with the show, but I'm thinking the songs will grow on me. It kinda bored me. I can definitely see that it was a good book, but it was just too complex to put it into a musical. And Steph and Katelin said that the Javert that we saw was really good, and I agree, but I think the script isn't very good. Like I didn't feel any crazy tension between him and Valjean. And the only time I really got into the show was with Eponine. That was the only serious character development that I saw. And I don't think it was necessarily the actors' fault, I just think it was poorly written. And every time there's a boring part, it incorporated one of the repetitive and catchy tunes, so it kinda brought me back in. Yeah, the music was way cooler than the script. And the audience that we were with was the worst I have ever been with in a professional theatre! I mean, we were at the Fischer. And there were people coming in late (for both acts) and people walking around and leaving early - who does that? This show didn't get a standing ovation from me, but that's not new or anything. I'm glad I saw it though, because since it's such a well known show, now I can participate in discussions about it.
I learned that Katelin loves musicals! And at first I was like, yeah that's cool, but then on the way home she started singing Parade and I got so happy inside because she knows obscure shows too! We should have been friends like 5 years ago. Getting to know people is fun, and I've been doing that recently.
