some things

in Arizona, there is a painted desert where the trees are millions of years old, petrified, and have all turned to crystal.

in Utah, people use the ancient pictures carved into the faces of mountains for target practice. this is where I saw a fort.

once I was licked by wild monitor lizards.

in a hut in the Australian rainforest, I listened to an elderly Frenchwoman discuss the difference between different types of gecko. her brother had befriended a large black bird with a broken wing. it sat on him, and he named it Gecko.

I saw a piece of a glacier fall off in Alaska. the water went in, paused, and then shot upwards more than a hundred feet.

I was hit on by a lesbian in Amsterdam.

in Ireland, I slept next to a graveyard so old that the stones were covered in moss and dead flowers. a falcon sat on my wrist for meat.

in London I ate roses and violets. I heard the sound of people at night.

in Cincinnati, I hugged someone.

there is a small beach somewhere in the Bahamas that is so covered with conch shells, dead and alive, that the sand is impossible to walk across.

in the British Virgin Islands I saw sea turtles feeding, and also jellyfish, and the wind coming in fast from the empty ocean. there is a man on a pile of rocks who has a garden. he washes his plants every day by hand to keep them from dying from the salt spray.

I sat inside of a tree in California.

I was taught to dance in Tahiti.

These are some things I have done.
