This is awesome, because it's basically our "M/M should be the sex scene!" argument, but in the context of a WEDDING NIGHT...OMG, that WOULD be amazing. :D
(And GAHHHHHH, yep, that's all we'd need. That scene you described. OMG. I would DIE. :D )
From a story context, I'm kind of not sure why we saw A/B's wedding night. Maybe because he was all "You could be my mistress!" and she's all "NO!!" But I TOTALLY agree, it's MUCH more meaningful to M/M.
I've basically come to the conclusion -- because JF hates unresolved relationships -- that their wedding will open S3, and I mean it might open at the breakfast/luncheon/whatever. And also that M/M are the anti-S/B. Meaning we'll see at least a portion of their wedding. And there won't be any children any time soon (two pregnant Crawley sisters I cannot see). ;p
Plus, the scene you described is in keeping with M/M as the show's "romantic" couple (where...for some reason, they seem to feel the "hot" couple is A/B -- just saying! There was a reason they showed their wedding night). Plus, if they showed A/B post-coital, perhaps they'll show M/M pre-coital. Which is the more important part for them anyway (that's where any lingering issues about sex for either of them would be addressed)
SO, YES -- THIS MUST HAPPEN. :D And it makes total sense, too!!! :)

Yes and yes!! See, we were right after all... We just got the timing wrong!! Ugh.. It's just SO meaningful. I can't even. To be their wedding night just makes it TEN TIMES MORE SO.

No, exactly!! So if we were shown that... With no apparent meaning to it... M/M would just be so much more rewarding to see!!
I really like your reasoning for pre-coital... Oh, PLEASE. I do think A/B and M/M have tended to be mirrored throughout the show, so... Pleeeeeeease!!
And it had honestly only just occurred to me, really occurred to me, that the sex ALONE is what makes Matthew send Lavinia away. The not walking wasn't an issue there. But to ask her to be with him without that in their relationship, he COULDN'T DO. And yes, he said to Violet and Mary that that was about giving up her future and the chance of children, but... Come on, Matthew. IT SHOULD BE IMPORTANT. Word.
