How do you work a calendar? I need to count days.

Well, um, calendars show what month it is. A-and it's September now. The, the twenty, um, third. S-so if you want to count days, you'd just count backwards from that, I guess. Oh, though that won't work if you're counting forward...

[That was a poor explanation and she knows it. There's a brief pause.]

What are you c-counting days for?

[ ... You're going to have to be a hell of a lot clearer than that to get the concept of calendars through Sophie's head.

But she ignores it for now and answers the question anyway. ]

To know how long I've been away from home.

Oh! Well, that, um, that shouldn't be too difficult to figure out. D-do you know when you got here? I mean, what month, o-or even, maybe, um...Do you know the date you arrived?

[ ... She pauses for a moment. ]

... I don't know.

[ Sophie has no idea what date she arrived here. She was unaware she needed to know that to be able to count the days she's been away from home! ]

Oh. Hmm. Well, um, you c-can't really count days without a starting point. Otherwise, you'll just keep counting f-forever. Umm...

[There's a pause as she takes a moment to think.]

Ah! M-maybe? Maybe we can guess close to when you g-got here, and, um, work from that. What s-season was it? A-and what was the weather like?

[Voice]

[ Sorry, Sophie is not going to be able to make this easier for you. ]

... Season? [ What ... season was it? And what was the weather like? Sophie can't really remember anything other than meeting with her friends that day ... ]

I don't remember. I just remember seeing Asbel and the others, and being okay again.

[Another pause. Her voice is both frustrated and a bit sad when she finally responds.]

Well then, I...I'm not sure that you can figure out how long you've b-been here. T-though, um, I'm glad you found your friends. Wait! Do they, uh, do your friends know when you got here?

[ Hmmmnn, Sophie trusts her friends enough to believe they'd know when she got here. Her friends know a lot more than she does, at least, and some of them were even here before her. ]
