It happened while I was in town today. I discovered the pet shop near the center of town (you know, the one that has the parakeets in the window waaaaay too close to the kitten cage? Makes me snicker every time I look at it) and was just leaving when a really sweet lady came and told me about a kitten

But you're the one with the problem here - "I'm glad I'm not your floor leader" etc. And besides, it's not special treatment from anyone when the rules don't say anything about not allowing cats in the dorms.

Yeah because I don't want to put up with people complaining about a cat on their floor. And use your common sense, you share a tiny room with someone and you want to drag a cat into it. It's cruel to your roommate and your cat.

Do you live in the room with any of the animals? I'm going to take a guess and say you don't since you're not complaining about a personal experience. And since that's the case it's none of your business who has pets unless the roommate complains. They're the only ones living with said animals.

It's a dorm! The walls aren't exactly thick, the rooms are small and there's more than you two living on the floor. So your point is lame.

Though I have been thinking of making him leave the cat at his parent's care since we aren't that far. And that would mean Kikumaru-kun could bring his cat here as well.
