So. I'm trying to sort out a new time for a recurring monthly meeting. Now, to be fair, I'm just starting to figure out just how... contentious, relations in the program I work for are but I'm at my freakin' wits end with these people.
Over the last four months the feedback I've received has centred around two major issues: 1) I can be difficult to track down and 2) that my meeting planning happens later than it should. Both of these were valid and I'm working hard to 1) sort out the depression and feelings of isolation that make it waaaaay easier to just stay at home and work from there and 2) plan meetings sooner. The first issue is getting (mostly) easier - good drugs, an amazing doctor and a BFB who makes me coffee and shoves me out the door in mornings means that my sad, self indulgent ass gets to work more often. A few Spearhead albums played at top volume on my iPod don't hurt with keeping me from tearing out other's throats either.
But the second issue. That is the one that is going to do my head in.
There is meeting that I've been trying to schedule - one extraordinary meeting this Friday and recurring monthly meetings on Thursdays. I sent out an email two weeks to set up the meeting for this week soliciting feedback from everyone about a time that works for them for this occurrence and dates in the future.

So I sent out a reminder yesterday and all I've received since there were comments about how they couldn't make the 4:00 p.m. meeting time because they had made plans because the process of taking so long. And that the time suggested for the future meetings didn't work for them.
This morning I fired out another email apologising for the delay, etc, etc, and just laid down a time and once again solicited input.

Thank you everyone for the feedback regarding to meeting scheduling and I apologise for the difficulties this is causing for your very busy schedules.
It is to the end of avoiding these difficulties that I solicited your input to fix a recurring time for future meetings.
Every second Thursday of the month at 8:00 a.m. has been proposed as the permanent time for this meeting; this would result in meetings Thursday November 13 and Thursday December 11 at 8:00 a.m. I will forward a tentative schedule for 2009 later today with the understanding that some will need to be rescheduled to take into account conferences, stat holidays, UCD, etc.
I also propose that 8:00 a.m. Friday October 31 be set for this next meeting with the understanding that future meetings will be scheduled for Thursdays. This will also alleviate any conflict with TGIF presentations, Pediatric Grand Rounds, Tumour Board, etc.
Your input, as always, is greatly appreciated.
Captain, I am in the office until 7:00 this evening to attend the Mini-Med School lecture series and will be happy to meet with you today at a time that works with your schedule.
