Ok, so I have been couch hopping for weeks and finally, as of this afternoon, we have the internet hookup at our new place. What does this mean for you, club night reader? It means that updates can resume naturally.
This past week was The Octopus Project, with Cex, Make Believe, and A Formatik On Tact. The music was very excellent. We had too many people who wanted to help out this week. When it rains, it pours for club night. This was the last night that we would be having club night on a tuesday night at Emo's. Club night is now moving to Thursdays at Emo's and Tuesdays at the Flamingo Cantina. Thursday club nights start next week, Tuesdays at Flamingo Cantina the week following (the 24th). I began nursing a new addiction to the photo hunt game with a new friend named "Anna". She was handling merch for cex and make believe, and she was also very cool. This guy named "Ralph" who was very drunk and kept talking to me uncomfortably close and kept making unnecessary physical contact while doing so bought a shirt from me early in the evening (before he started talking to me). He ended up quasi ripping it off by the end, but you know what, it doesnt make a lick of difference, its his shirt, he can do what he wants. Also, "Pat Reidy" volunteered, and my co-host, "Lucas DelPico" came, and "Farah Diaz-Tello" thought it was at the Flamingo Cantina already and ended up spending some time watching a terrible ska band before coming down the street to where we, in fact, were having club night. The Groceries changed their name to Bring Back The Guns, and in November, we may book a club night with the Octopus Project and possibly Bring Back The Guns on the same bill.
The previous week was Single Frame, and they were great. I met their new guitarist, "Pete", last night and he was a real stand up fellow. The show was uneventful on Tuesday, however.
It should also be noted, that executing the primary purpose of club night, "promoting the station on site at various venues" is very difficult when there are no promotional materials. We have not had any stickers, matchbooks, or pins for a very long time, and people continually neglect to give me the fliers they want passed out. This doesn't really have much to do with actually doing the club night job, its more of a relevant problem. People just keep dropping the ball on it, and it makes my job much more difficult.
Hi Diddley Dee, Goddamn, The Pirates' Life For Me.
until next time.
