Final Necropolis

Dec 18, 2005 11:47

Well, that was the night that was.

I went over to a friend's place to have my hair done, and had a good time even before I got to Necropolis. Didn't get to Necro until after 11pm, but that's the way I like it. Overall I had a good time (except for the "obligatory" dickhead encounter), though I spent more time out in the beer garden chatting than anything else.

I had to laugh, as the dance floor behaved like it always has at Necro - one minute there's no one and the next it's packed, and then empty again! Of all the songs of the night (and I missed the last dance, bugger!) the following stuck in my mind, as I sat under the Milky Way in the beer garden. An old The Church favourite, maybe it describes that behaviour:

Under the Milky Way (from Starfish)

Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty,
Sound of their breath fades with the light.
I think about the loveless fascination,
Under the Milky Way tonight.

Lower the curtain down in Memphis,
Lower the curtain down all right.
I got no time for private consultation,
Under the Milky Way tonight.

Wish I knew what you were looking for.
Might have known what you would find.
Wish I knew what you were looking for.
Might have known what you would find.

And it's something quite peculiar,
Something that's shimmering and white.
Leads you here despite your destination,
Under the Milky Way tonight
(Chorus)
Under the Milky Way tonight.
