the stakes are higher when we care

If there is one thing about singlehood that I learnt, it is the advantage of not caring. Of not having to constantly care for someone, to always worry about whether he's home/he's safe/where he is, to make an effort. If you don't care, you could just say "Fuck it", switch the light off and jump into bed. If you don't care, everything doesn't matter and that's great because nothing can affect you.

But the downside of not caring for anyone/anything means that over time you become jaded. You have effectively placed your heart in the safe, locked all the emotions away. You don't care so you will not get hurt and as time goes by, you actually do believe in it.

When you care, the stakes are higher and you could run home a bankrupt before you can even comprehend what went on.

But at the end of the day, we all care. Yes, every single one of us. That's the sad truth. We constantly remind ourselves not to, but we end up caring more than we meant to.

I think I'm going to fall sick again. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME THIS TERM?!
