Busy day

Spent the day cooking up a birthday feast for the missus.

Classic french onion soup. Vegetable timbales - kind of a fancy vegetable mousse, with layers of fluffy capsicum, spinach and carrot mousse. Pork noisettes in prune and white wine sauce, with gratin dauphinois - thin slices of potato layered with grated cheese, crushed garlic and baked in cream. And for dessert, gateau basque - almond pastry baked with an almond creme patissiere and blackberry jam filling.

Add to that a 2010 Devil's Corner Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, and an apres dinner ten year old tawny port, and I'm feeling quite well with the world, thank you very much :)
