Another Uni assignment, from last year. This was for a literature unit; the assignment was to retell a fairy tale. I chose the story of Bluebeard, updating it to a modern setting

that would be a fun assignment. i wish my first writing assignment was a set task.... we have to produce 2000 words creative writing of our own choice... for the class to analyse and pick apart *all in the spirit of "improving" our writing. usually i can churn out words like there is no tomorrow.... every time i sit to compose the 2000 words...... nada. !! LOL!

I find deadlines to be extraordinarily conducive to production.

Good story. I'm not familiar with "Bluebeard," yet.

I read a comment by an author several years ago. When asked why he didn't write short stories, he said that he didn't have the time.

As for the length of the assignment, consider the teacher that has to grade all of them.

'Bluebeard' is not a well-known story, these days. It's generally dropped from the 'fairy story' canon.
