Chapter 3:
"STOP!!!"
He screamed as he ran into the clearing a step too late; the blade in Sungmin's hand ripped through the other's flesh as it was driven down.
Sungmin stared at him with wide eyes, and he stared back, but only for two seconds. In a blink of his eyes, he found the two on the ground had reversed positions, as the knife had changed its owner.
"Kid, you should never drop your guard. It could kill you."
Familiar voice floated into his ear. Eeteuk was suddenly struck dumb, as emotions raged wild in his head. So he hadn't been hallucinating.
It is him.
Where have you been?
What happened to you?
Why didn't you contact me?
Did you know I was worried?
Why are you back now?
Questions floated into his head but he couldn't voice any of them. Instead, he stride right up to the pair and grabbed the collar of the one on top, hauled him up and promptly delivered a punch across the face.
His victim stumbled back and looked at him with bewildered eyes.
"What was that for?!"
"You have the guts to come see me, Kim Youngoon!" Ignoring Sungmin's surprised expression and Youngoon's questioning eyes, he went and grabbed his collar again. Shaking him as his own expression melted into an angry one.
"You disappeared for four months without even telling me anything!!! Not even as to leave me a trace! How dare you come back now?!"
"Hey hold---HOLD IT!"
Youngoon grabbed Eeteuk's hands with his own to still the shaking, but it was slapped away angrily as the other glared at him with something other than hate in his eyes.
"I came especially for you!"
"Go away! I don't want to see you. You have no idea how much I want to kill you right now."
He knew his own temper had been lost, which was not so uncommon when it comes to this person in front of him. He helped Sungmin up wordlessly, and without even a backwards glance, walks out of the clearing.

Although it was a beautiful morning, with the sun shining and the birds chirping, his mood hadn't changed from the sourness since last night.
Eeteuk stepped on the gas pedal harder, again.
The tension in the air of the car was almost thick enough to be cut with a knife, but he couldn't care less. At this point in time, the only thing he had to do was resist the growing urge to smack the one sitting beside him, or punch the one sitting in the back.
"Jungsu, you're driving at 140km/h already. Don't..."
"Eeteuk-hyung... if you want I can drive too..."
He threw the steering wheels to one side suddenly, effectively shutting both of them up. Yes he is mad, but he can still drive!
They better arrive to town soon.
And he'll kick this hitchhiker out.
What part of 'I don't want to see your face' does this person not understand? If Kim Youngoon can walk out on his life so easily, Park Jungsu can forget him just as well. He had always thought they were good partners before, and could get through anything together. But after that happened, everything turned into a mess. Something changed, and he knew, was prepared to face it. But Kim Youngoon stripped him of his resolve by walking away.
And now he doesn't know if he really want to see the other man after yesterday night.
"When we get there, Kim Youngoon, you are getting OUT."
"Are you still mad over that little thing? Come on, I came back all the way for you for this mission because it's dangerous."
"Oh, you mean if it *wasn't* dangerous then you *wouldn't* come back? Is that it?"
"...well..."
"Shut up!!! I don't want to hear it!"
The two others in the car shivered and stayed quiet for the rest of the trip.
~~~
Locking up the car and putting the keys in his pocket, Eeteuk looked around the relatively calm street with only a several people walking on it.
"Alright, Sungmin, let's go get some information around the town about that mansion before hitting the motels." The one addressed looked at him from the other side of the car and nodded.
"Hey, wait a second. What about me?"
Glare.
"What about you? I told you before, you're heading your own way when we get to town."
"And I said this mission is dangerous, so I came here to help."
"However dangerous it is, it's me and *my partner's* business. It has nothing to do with you, *ex-partner*."
He made sure to emphasize the last word as he ended the sentence. Then, without even sparing a glance to Youngoon, he turned around and motioned Sungmin to follow him to the cafe across the street that he'd spotted. He jogged across the street when there was no cars, however he heard no footsteps behind him. Head naturally turned back to see what was happening, only to catch the scene of Youngoon sending Sungmin off to the other direction.
Eeteuk felt himself getting quite irritated as the other man jogged over.
"What did you tell him?"
"I told him to go find a motel, then I'll come with you to gather info."
"...You threatened him?"
"I didn't..."
Catching Youngoon's guilty expression, he can only sigh at how well he know this person.
"Alright, if you want to be a pain in the ass and stick with us, then do so. But just so that you know, I haven't forgiven you yet."
"Oh, we don't have to worry about that."
A hand casually landed on his shoulder, and he slapped it away. He swear he really wanted to wipe that smug smile off this guy's face.
The small golden bell chimed as they pushed opened the cafe door, their senses immediately gets invaded by the smell of coffee and toast.
"Good morning! How many?"
A tall boy wearing an apron with big round eyes and a cute smile welcomed them.
"Two please."
"This way."
They were led to a table beside a window that showed the sunny streets outside. After the two sat down, the boy handed them two menus.
"I'll give you guys a few minutes with your orders."
Without wasting a second, he took a glance at the menu's front page and blurted out his order.
"No it's alright. We'll have two sets of the breakfast special."
"Okay." The boy replied and wrote it down on the yellow stack of paper in his hands, then turned around to the counter and yelled out the orders to the other man standing there. All this while, Eeteuk took his time to read the nametag on the boy's shirt.
"Ah, Changmin is it?"
"Eh? Yes?"
Changmin's attention came to him, and it was the first time they had made real eye contact. Big round innocent eyes reminded Eeteuk of a porcelain doll's, and the way his short light brown hair framed his face also supported the comparison.
"Well, we're tourists you see... and we're really interested in seeing that mansion up the hill."
"Um... Earl Scarlet's mansion you mean? You want to see it?"
"Yes. That's the one."
"But it's..."
"We are aware of the rumours."
"You know, it's not really a good idea to go there, but then again, I know a lot of tourists are interested in that place even after they heard of the rumours. If you really really wanted to go, I know someone who can take you there for a tour."
"Really? We would appreciate that."
"No problem." Changmin smiled at them before scribbling something down on another piece of paper. A few seconds later, Eeteuk was handed an address written in neat handwriting of a place called "Thirteenth Bookstore".
