So I got to meet Lucy Knisley on Wednesday night. Which was AWESOME! <3 She had 2 small presentations. One a reading from her book (with commentary) and then another presentation on the process of making said book and some fun 'behind the scenes' stuff about that!
I talked with her for maybe 30 seconds to a minute about Livejournal and whatever [ahaha she still uses/loves it, too~!] while she drew a sandwich on my book. Heh heh. It was too cool.
SO inspiring!
Then my dad and I looked around in Powell's books for a little bit. [They had a HUGE Mucha book and a HUGGGGGE book of Vivienne Westwood fashions!! T4T *drools*]
I couldn't afford them but my dad bought me the book 'Pink Smog' by Francesca Lia Block! WOO! Which turns out to be the prequel to Block's famous 'Weetzie Bat' books. So if you're a fan of Block and her lovable gal Weetzie, please check out Pink Smog. So far it's really good. <3
In other news one of my characters, Ash, made a form of debut today. (he's from a project I'm afraid might take a while to get around to...*cries*)
...It's really not as thrilling as it sounds but it gave me a good chuckle. There's this shop here where you can buy a token, put the token in the machine and out will pop a little block of wood that somebody has taken creative liberties on. [Painting, collage, etc] Some are naturally better than others but it's still a cool thing, I think!
Anyway, my dads girlfriend gave me one of these blocks and asked me to do something on one so she can give it to the lady to put in the machine. So of course, I did. It's just a simple picture of Ash looking like his cocky-douche self. But whatever, I still had fun. I hope someone who enjoys the manga style gets it...ahaha. I can imagine some old person behind the times getting it and being like "WTF IS THIS???" AHAHAHA~! Ohhhh well~
It was actually pretty fun! Maybe I'll do more 'block work' for the future. Like, conventions or something.... mm. Dunno.
In the mean time I've been drawing and trying to redesign this character-design!
*throws up arms*
It's coming along...slowly but surely......Ugh.
