My Blackberry Pearl began eating text messages, both new and old, and my call logs last week. I poked at the settings, took out and put back my SIM card and battery, deleted some photos, and got everything working again. Temporarily. At some point yesterday afternoon, the phone started freaking out again and deleting call logs and messages. I missed a call from Sayeth's wife and found that I had a voice message on my phone from her this morning... right after I saw a text message pop up, then disappear. Meep.
Happily, I think I've found the source of the problem: low memory on my phone due to too much crap being on it right now, brought about by installing Tetris last week. I bought the game while getting an oil change, and it came in handy again a couple of days later when I was helping my sister babysit my uncle's stepkids. But when looking at the applications folder, I found that the Tetris application is effing humongous, in comparison to how large the other apps are and how much room is on my Blackberry to begin with. I am loathe to delete the game, though, since I already deleted the brick breaking game that came bundled with the phone (it lost its fun for me long ago), I've had Tetris less than a week, and I haven't gotten my $7 worth out of it yet, I feel. Heh.
Instead, I deleted unused ringtones and old videos; I also tweaked my settings to keep my phone's memory usage a bit lower to avoid having this problem again (or having it with such frequency).
It's a bit frustrating, all things considered. If I'd know how large the file was, I might have opted for a different game. Perhaps there's a smaller version of Tetris or clone of the game that I can swap out for this version sometime. At the very least, I am going to try to delete the game's sound files.
