Our camping plans were scuttled by Dr. B's aching back, so we grilled out with our fellow non-campers Saturday night. After an afternoon of house cleaning, I killed a huge bottle of cheap wine and made vegetable kebabs with these circular skewers (I got them much cheaper than the site lists them for, thanks Kroger). A friend brought over her dog, a Yorkie named Molly, and the three dogs ran around chasing each other all night. Bones was nippy with Molly for a while, but they were fast friends by the time the evening was out, and no living creature save this new dog has ever provoked Spock to bark before. A good time was had by all.

My huge CRT monitor is crapping out on me for reals. I thought it could be a power cord issue, but even after replacing the cord, the monitor still flickers green and loses power about once a day now, usually when I start up my PC in the mornings. So I ordered a Dell 22" flat panel widescreen this morning; it will replace one of Dr. B's two really nice flat panel monitors, and the replaced monitor will be mine.

We are almost done watching the run-to-date of House. In the search for new tv to watch together (I'm picky, so this is no quest taken up lightly), we tried out an episode of Lie To Me. It did absolutely nothing for me; just seemed like a knockoff of the ilk of shows that includes Criminal Minds and CSI, with a cheesy, ongoing lie detection element. Maybe the character interaction is supposed to make the show fun. But the non-character-developing element just isn't interesting enough to keep me around for that.
