Once again, sorry for a delay in updating. I haven't had much inspiration to write fictionally these days. Hopefully some of the mojo will come back.

Spirits of the Heart: Chapter Six
Although it was a different nurse, Heechul didn't disclose why exactly he wanted a menu to take to Kyuhyun. His ego had suffered enough punishment for one day without someone trying to bite back laughter that he had tried to do something nice and instead nearly put his friend in the ICU again. Of course knowing that his cooking was subpar-to put it very lightly-wasn't enough to keep him from still huffing a little when he handed over the menu to Kyuhyun. The least the kid could have done was simply suffer in silence or something. Not that Heechul would have done that were the situation reversed, but that wasn't the point.

Not a whole lot of conversation passed between the two since Kyuhyun was busy eating shortly after ordering his dinner. Heechul was content with that and simply busied himself with his cell phone, sending off text messages left and right. He had to deal with some distant taunting from Geng who knew Heechul's cooking was a bad idea. There was no way in hell Heechul was going to be allowed to live this one down. Even after Kyuhyun finished his dinner, it was only when the text messages slowed that Heechul found himself in a conversational mood. Of course, he got absolutely no response from him. Kyuhyun's lips were parted slightly. Small little grunts and wheezes that were the beginnings of some snoring escaped him. Heechul crinkled his nose.

"Yah..." he whispered, "You aren't just faking so I'll go away, are you?" He paused, but there was no real reaction from Kyuhyun. Instead, the youngest curled up just a little tighter in his blankets. "I'll bring your laptop next time." No reaction. He really was asleep. Heechul sighed a little and brushed back some of Kyuhyun's hair gently. "You didn't sleep at all last night, did you?" Heechul couldn't entirely blame him. Although his own car accident hadn't been nearly this severe and nearly claimed his life, nightmares had a way of making it so much worse. He couldn't imagine the things Kyuhyun saw and accepted as temporary reality when his eyes closed. That didn't stop him from calling it how he saw it though, "Idiot." There was no way he'd get better if he was starving himself of sleep just to avoid bad dreams.

Sleeping in a tense ball because of the cold would lead to more pains than Kyuhyun already had. Heechul got into the drawer of his nightstand and pulled out his blanket before carefully tucking Kyuhyun in. He pushed gently on Kyuhyun's mouth until it closed and the noises stopped before placing a kiss to his forehead. "Sleep well. I'll be back tomorrow." Heechul was not more than a step away from walking out the door when Kyuhyun's jaw fell open again and the noises started up again. He was beginning to think that Kyuhyun lived purely just to spite him even if he had to do it while asleep.

But Heechul did keep his promise and returned the next day. And he continued to come back. Sometimes he brought more books or new games for Kyuhyun's DS. Other times all he brought was company. He never brought food he made himself again though. He either got Ryeowook or Geng to cook or he just brought some take-out. Heechul was also careful to never visit when Kyuhyun's family visited. If he arrived and they were still with him, he simply decided it was a good time to go for a walk. He wasn't about to infringe upon family time and spent his time wandering the hospital or going around the block until they left. Sometimes it took a long time and Heechul complained to himself that he was incredibly bored circling the hospital, but he wouldn't leave and break his promise to Kyuhyun that he would pay a visit.

Of course, in Kyuhyun's opinion, there was one thing Heechul did wrong and Heechul was fully aware of it. Day after day, Kyuhyun asked for Heechul to bring him his laptop, but not once did Heechul come with it. Heechul knew that Kyuhyun was still not sleeping regularly and because of that, wouldn't bring his laptop. He knew Kyuhyun could stay awake forever if he had his laptop to keep him entertained.

However, the squabbling over the laptop did bring about some good eventually. Heechul was rhetorically muttering about what Kyuhyun could so desperately need his laptop for when Kyuhyun replied with the obvious answer.

"Starcraft."

Heechul froze a moment and looked at Kyuhyun. "What did you just…?" It was then that Kyuhyun seemed to realize what just happened and repeated himself.

"Starcraft. I said Starcraft," he said. His voice sounded scratchy and a little weak from lack of use. It didn't even sound like him to either Heechul or Kyuhyun. It was there. His voice was back. Heechul rolled his eyes.

"I bring you all sorts of things, I talk to you, I visit you day after day, I even made you food-"

"That almost poisoned me."

"Not the point. The point is, I do all this and what's you first word? 'Starcraft,'" Heechul complained, a frown making itself more and more noticeable on Heechul's features.

"You've been watching too many of Donghae's movies," Kyuhyun said. Heechul merely clicked his tongue once and slumped down in his seat. Heechul decided to just let him get away with it. He wouldn't say it, but he was glad Kyuhyun was starting to find his voice again. He remembered not being able to verbally communicate for a long time felt like still. The longer time went by that Heechul couldn't speak, the more and more he slipped into his own thoughts. But Kyuhyun seemed to be doing pretty well on avoiding things like that. Heechul brought him enough things to keep himself fairly well distracted.

"Heechul?"

"Hm?"

"Now will you bring me my laptop?" Heechul didn't say anything or even look at Kyuhyun. It was like he didn't say anything at all. Kyuhyun sighed a little and sat back. He'd have to keep trying if he was ever going to get his hands on Starcraft again.
