Oh. Crap.
...so I come across this handy warning literally minutes after downloading my system updates. Head, meet desk. Basically, Quicktime 7.6 conflicts with some games, including The Sims 2. I tried to revert to 7.5 with Pacifist, but it didn't work. Then I tried to do the more complicated looking method, backing up and rebooting from disc.
My cd drive won't work. It rejects all discs. Not sure if this also has to do with the system updates I downloaded, but regardless I repeat:
Oh. Crap.
This is especially unfortunate since I was excited about getting back to simming after a hiatus caused by lack of time and indifference. Now I am at the mercy of Quicktime getting their act together and posting a fix (since they have, at least, acknowledged the existence of the problem although they certainly haven't posted a warning or note about it anywhere on their site and are still encouraging users to update). Or maybe MATY will save the day.
You know how the place you can't reach naturally itches more than anywhere else? I now have an insatiable craving to sim precisely because I can't do it. Uuuuuugh...
To preserve my sanity, I'll post some pictures of a little beach house I was working on yesterday (and its owner, James):
Turd-like lump of sand to the left comes courtesy of James. It's a "castle," according to him.
That's Eric on the right, a neighbor. Despite James' sly expression and lack of shirt, they are not about to get much friendlier since Eric is still hung up over his sister. >_>;
James' bodyshop mugshot. Sweet and shy though he may be, James is a romance sim. He's still a naive romantic, but since I play with aging off he has plenty of time to be corrupted. >D

When I get my stupid game back, I vow to upload a bunch of other sims immediately. I keep delaying because I'm a fidgety tweaker who keeps going back to fiddle with sims I've created. I hesitate to upload in case I missed something I want to change.
Fabian & Ezra the vampire couple are ready to go, if only I had the game to take screenshots. The twins need screenshots of neutral expressions. And Eric needs to be introduced with his sister.
