On the bus

Since my last post here, a few things have changed in my life. I've moved from the Blue Mountains near Sydney to Australia's capital city, Canberra. I moved to Canberra to start a new government library job. That lasted about 10 months before I transferred into a different government department. I've been in my new position at the Australia equivalent of the IRS for just a week. It is very weird and ironic that I'd ever end up working in tax. I chose this position more to do with qualities associated with the library than passion for the actual subject area.

The other major change is that I'm now in a relationship again. We've been together about 18 months. Linda even followed me to Canberra - but I think she prefers the quieter easier lifestyle here even more than I do. We're also in the process of buying a new townhouse together. It's been finished only recently and we should be settling in the next two weeks.

Buying a new house means being "house broke" for a little while. One way I'm economizing is taking the bus to work. It takes longer but is substantially cheaper when considering petrol and parking - and I still believe in the environmental benefits of public transport. I'm writing this from the bus.
