*a rather charming looking fellow in slacks and a sweater strolls along the beach in bare feet, shoes dangling from one hand, eying Elton's fishing with hand held up to shade his eyes* Caught anything, Mr Pope?
((May I just say: Phrowwww. And an additional: Whoa mama.))
Father! As a matter of fact, I have...
*glances over to him before opening the cooler near his feet. A grey blue eel looking creature's tail flops out. Elton puts the pole between his knees and uses the end of the net to push it back in*
Not a clue what it is. I hope it's edible, or I'll feel bad that I kept it.
*gestures to the other cooler behind him*
I've got a few more drinks in that one. Help yourself.
((I KNOW RIGHT. PHROWWWW INDEED. I knew he had a good looking thing going, but curls? *Fans self*))
*eyes the cooler cautiously and smiles* Going to cook it up and give it a go, or find a book of ichthyology before trying it? *looks at the other cooler* You don't mind?
You still use books in your time, Father? I'm a little surprised. But, yeah, who knows it might poison me or... live even when cooked. You never know with these alien creatures.
And why would I mind if I invited you to help yourself?
We do. Books are treasured by the Church, still. Even if some of the contents are on the primitive side. *gives a quiet laugh and cracks into the cooler* Just confirming. *plucks a beer from it, inspecting the label then pulls a small multitool from his pocket and opens it* Thank you.
I'm sure they're in better condition than those we have at the Church as well. *sits on the cooler and watches the waves for a moment* You seem a very content young man.
Father, today is gorgeous. A faint breeze, just warm enough, good music on the radio... I caught something already and I haven't been out long! Why shouldn't I be happy?
It wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but every religion is wanting for the few who can offer teachings. *plucks at his sweater* I have clothes, I can breathe, and I don't need to arm myself to go outside. I am quite content as well. *gives a smile and samples his beer* And I've been given some kind of malt-based beverage.
They have beer. And synthetic beer. The primary herb used in brewing doesn't propagate well on other worlds and real beer is too expensive for the clergy. *smirks slightly, then jumps up to help with the fish, though he's not really got anything to do to actually help other than admire it* That's a lovely little thing. Well done!
I don't know... It's a nice place to settle down, I guess.
*pauses*
And after meeting the Doctor... well, things change, don't they? I never even traveled with him but Ophara feels more like home than London ever did to me. Strange, that, but I think it's true. For me anyway.

*his reel spins suddenly having caught something! Reels in a small fish with long, thin fins. Grabs the net and maneuvers it into the fish cooler.*

Oh. Nothing, I suppose. Most people end up staying, is all.
