Teabags: the wankening

Jul 12, 2015 23:20

To my utter delight, it emerges that The Independent has a feature that is basically Fandom Wank in non-fannish contexts. The examples that brought this to light:

- Two men have ridiculous fight about how many days are in a week

Marks and Spencer didn't give an elderly couple two tea bags and people on Facebook can't cope

The sad thing is that it's a positive relief in comparison with all the internet wars that are actually about something! XD

I'm starting to think that living off the grid INCLUDING internet would not be such a bad thing... I could always go into a town for a day at a coffee shop if I needed a real Internet fix....

I must say, I don't regret being internetless by default when we go on holiday. I mean, sometimes I've had to go online from friends' houses to print boarding passes or check museum opening times, and I did cave last time we were on the 9-hour trip home from seeing my partner's family, but that was largely because I saw the cafe wi-fi as an opportunity to empty my inbox...
