This week the writing mojo has not been with me, and since I'm currently encumbered by stomach pain, it comes without imagery. But

As ever, commenting as I go...

You nicknaming him Harry Potter does not help with the ALTAF feels!

The house turns out to be called Cicada Park.

I've never noticed that before!! :)

Meanwhile, Harry Potter watches the commotion wearing a small, gentle smile and (to my perhaps overly suspicious mind) the air of a child psychopath whose designs are finally coming to fruition.

LOL. Can you blame him, though, with THAT for parents? Maybe in a couple of days their bodies will be discovered somehow entangled in the treehouse lift...

Adam is one of a long line of entertainers to have been poorly reviewed by Sylvester Le Fley. Of course he is.

Perhaps more a reflection on Adam's ham act than Jonathan's design? Given Adam's obvious lack of any magic skill later, anyway...

Of all the things you expect to date shows - car models, fashions, people not being constantly glued to smartphones - it's funny to see the things that actually do in a post-recession world.

That's actually a really interesting point - for the most part this show has aged really well even in terms of fashion (because, well, look at them!) and tech - Jonathan does not (yet) live in a tech-centred world and neither really does Maddy. And I suspect if Adam did it would all be hidden away in special cupboards. :) Actually, this may explain a lot about where Jonathan ends up in "Savant's Thumb", in a world where people can no longer afford such frivolities as going to see magic shows...

Re: the tiger - I don't think we have seen it before, but yes, it does give the impression of being there the whole time. :)

Per the Maddy's mother stuff: I actually wonder whether Magellan is even her actual real name, given everything that's happened... It seems to be a very "authory" name and it wouldn't surprise me if she changed it as a way of trying to forget / escape...

Jonathan arrives to distract her at an opportune moment ... which I think is the most touching moment between them in the series up to this point

It's such a lovely moment, though! :D I can see Jonathan always being like that: the strong but silent type who just turns up at exactly the right point and doesn't have to say anything for the gesture to mean something. But, as much as I love Maddy's revealing comment to her therapist about the fact that she would have thrown herself in front of the digger if not for his timing, part of me wishes he knew that, you know? I'm sure he knows he's done the right thing, but a bit of acknowledgement from her would be perfect...

Oh well. The fandom basically doubles as the Doomed Shippers of Jonathan and Maddy Support Group at this point, amirite?

Yeeeep. I suspect my propensity towards Doomed Romances is part of the reason I am so fascinated by this particular ship, aside from the fact that if hadn't been doomed it could actually have been snarktastically adorable.
