Writing Deadlines

How to do the stuff that needs to get done--I don't know.

* "Alien/Whore/Mother" needs to get revised, polished, and submitted to The Ladies of Trade Town anthology by June 9th.

* "Leaving Remediation Town" needs to get written, let sit, critiqued, revised, and submitted to Science in My Fiction by June 30th.

* I have a self-constructed goal of finishing bulk revisions (four. more. chapters.) and writing basic synopses and pitches for Vicesteed before 4th Street, which is June 25th. This is self-imposed, and I don't really "lose" anything if I don't make it--except the ability to speak coherently and persuasively about a ready-to-publish novel. Erk.

* Do the social media presentation for my writing group next month, June the ??th.

That's just the writing stuff. I also have a ridiculous stack of paperwork, and emails, and to-do lists, and cleaning and gardening and cooking food and photography stuff, and, and, and--all the usual stuff that nearly drives me to a nervous breakdown when I think about it.

I don't know how I'll get it all done. Especially since the precious few hours a day (on the 50% of days when I'm actually working only the 50% I'm supposed to) I have for writing-related stuff should all be going to editing Vicesteed, not the other three goals, let alone all the misc. non-writing crap I reallyshouldbedoing.

The rolling a D6 to figure out what I should do next, while it would get a lot done and keep me from burning out on one thing, might not get things done fast enough.

If I do a deathmarch, too much other stuff would slip, and I would totally burn out.

Deathmarch to timed productivity goals, I guess, and then do standard chores and D6 to-dos after that. Although even deathmarching, I'd still need to do dishes/dinner/laundry, and that's an hour or so a day right there. If it works, though, this might be a good balance of getting stuff done....

So.

Goals.

Vicesteed. Due date: 06/25. To finish: made editing changes to 30, redmark and change 31, 32, 33, and 34. => Done = 9edits + (summary/pitch = 2 edits?) = Time = 5 weeks => 11/5 = a bit more than 2 a week.

So the week of May 24th, I should finish making changes to ch. 30, redmarking 31, and start making editing changes to it. The week of May 31st, I should finish editing changes to 31, redmark 32, and be about halfway through making changes to 32. And so forth. (Note: That's a pretty fast pace!)

So if I get half of one of those done a day, my deathmarch for the day is over. But the next day I have to be through one, and so on. Cumulative goals, not resetting each day.

Alien/Whore/Mother (Or other title if somebody suggests a better one--else, I'm sticking with it, because I suck at titles.) Revise 15 pages + readaloud draft (= 4 pages) = 19 pages = 2.5 weeks = 19 days (total coincidence, did not jigger math) => 1 pg/day revision, beginning May 24th.

Remediation Town Way harder to calculate. Due in 5.5 weeks. I *think* the next crit group meeting is the 20th, meaning I have to have this written and loaded up for crit by June 10th, which is 2.5 weeks, at which rate I'd need to write roughly 2,000 words/week to get it written in time. That's--actually doable. I write a couple hundred daily when I bus, if I actually add typing to that it would go faster, at about 500 words/hour. If the meeting is actually June 13th, stuff would be due June 3rd, and I'm (probably) not going to be able to write it in a week and a half (or 4,000/week) *and* meet the other goals, though I might as well try for a couple of days.
