During sparring last Thursday, something happened to my ankle, or rather, to one specific silver-dollar sized spot just in front of the anklebone. It hurt to move, it hurt to walk, and it hurt at the slightest touch. I did two half-hour sessions with the ice bag on Thursday and Friday, and one on Saturday. I kept it elevated and tried not to even walk around, much less do actual workout stuff (this is my excuse for skipping grappling and Saturday sparring class). I even wore tennis shoes to the business-casual office on Friday (more on that later). I didn't work out at home.
It swelled up a lot, even though it never turned bruise colors. It hurt even when I wasn't trying to do anything, though not as much. The Muse had a theory that I broke one of the tiny bones in the foot, but since it feels so much better already, I kinda doubt that. I suppose I'll mention it to the doctor anyway when I see her, as part of the general "this is my life" update. Right along with my newfound allergy to sunless tanner.
I'm not limping anymore, and it only hurts when I press on it. This morning's workout went ok, although I left out my "fifteen minutes of jumping" segment. Tae Soo Do class tonight it is! Now watch the Inst. decide that today's a great day for an intensive jumping class. He's bound and determined to get me doing my jumps properly--which is a good thing, since so am I. But ow.
At least the floors have mats down.
