Morgan, Evan and I went to see the Shins last night. It was really fun, even with "O.C." bimbos ruining the mood at times. They started off playing "Sleeping Lessons" (It was like being underwater!-Evan) and "Australia" from Wincing the Night Away. That lead off to them playing older songs. It made me very happy. A lot of what they played I had totally forgotten about and realized how good the songs are. It took me back to 10th grade. Ahh, calmer times. What everyone has been saying about the Shins being an incredible live band is very true. It was worth paying $40+ for the ticket. (Thanks, US Govt.!)
I can't remember the order of the set list, but here's a general list, minus some from "Wincing the Night Away" that elude me:
Sleeping Lessons
Australia
Pam Berry
Phantom Limb
Turn On Me (?)
Kissing the Lipless
Mine's Not a High Horse
So Says I (best closing song)
Saint Simon
Turn A Square
Gone For Good
Caring Is Creepy
One by One All Day
Girl Inform Me
New Slang
Girl on the Wing
After the show (It ended at 11. Very early.), we went to eat at 59 Diner.
All in all, FUN WAS HAD.
