Hey all! I finally have some time to make a descent entry... SO here goes :)
It's a great thing that I haven't had time to write in the journal. I've been hanging out with people constantly. It's almost enough to assuage the boredom that happens when you're not living with anybody. Ponder this if you will... I've been living alone since October. Before that I basically always lived with someone whether it be a significant other, college people, or parents... Although my own space is awesome(!) I miss having some other to chat with. This might be one reason why I'm trying to keep up with calling people and it's definitely why I have so many plans.
Today I sent out an email to 14 people..... that's right 14! Movies are always better in groups, so I asked all my friends in DE to come see Batman begins with me. Although most people already had plans for tonight ~6 are going. It's nice. I'm starting to learn all kinds of social ques by hanging out with Manu more.
Erik and Chris are coming up from DC to hang out with me this weekend. I promised them the best sushi ever :) And I will provide!
In reverse
Yesterday, I invited my friend Adam to a happy hour that some friends from work invited me to. Although there were 15-20 people there, my table included ~5 awesomely entertaining engineers who were my age. Stories of vans (painted like the mystery machine) with resident cockroaches, drinking, and random hilarity abounded. I got a bite to eat then round 8:30 Adam and I left to go see MR.&MRS SMITH at the local theater. Unfortunately we had completely missed our showing... but since neither of us sticks to a regular bed time, we ended up going out for coffee and donuts. At which point I received cappichino with no coffee included. Before I realized, I thought "Man this is smooth for coffee".... ..... right.... so warm milk is smooth :). The mistake was quickly fixed and Adam and I chilled for an hour. He's great company. I'm really lucky to have met a friend as good as him. MR. & MRS. SMITH rocked! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE. See it and take all of your friends with you. You won't be sorry.
Wednesday I was going to go to an Italien festival in Wilmington with Aggie and Scott..... but I had to work insane overtime. Damn my sense of duty. I was at work until 7:00 pm. Then I went home and cleaned... want the apt to be spick and span for Chris and Erik.
Tuesday we has 25 people at chess night! It was a great time. All the boards were filled at all times. Sue, head librarian, told me that it was mainly due to me. She said I had a way with the kids and they respected me. She said my personality kept everyone coming back. This made me feel good in my happy warm place. The 25 were ~75% kids/families, & 25% adults.... not bad stats. But Doug was working so no Brad Pit competition ::sigh:: needless to say I was horribly bored without my weekly battle. I tried to drop in on my friend Serhat for a spot of Turkish tea, but he wasn't home. So I milled around for a half an hour then invited Adam over to chill and watch anime.
Monday Derek was working late, so I invited him over for dinner. I fixed Chicken Marsala, stuffed tomatoes, warm bread, spinach salad, & Lemon/dill shrimp. He had a good time of it. I figure he doesn't get homecooked meals much. He's going through a divorce so he's living on quickly prepared food. And taking up most of his time playing Knights of the old republic 2.
This weekend was the weekend of Ditchy McAbandonPants. Erik was supposed to come down Saturday but he had a hangover from Friday's parties. Unfortunately he didn't decide not to come until 7:00 pm which was too late for me to plan other events. That's really an excuse thought because I was dead tired from last week. I really wanted to do nothing. Regardless Saturday I swam in the APT complex pool and got groceries. I was planning to fix a vegetarian feast for Erik...... but.....
Sunday I got up early. I had it in my head to go to church..... ..... right... so I want to go to church again. Not like I'm going to be crazy religeous or anything... I just want to try to get back in to it a little. I wanted to go to the Lutheran church that Manu's Grandma goes to....... but they changed service times for the summer. So instead of being 15 minutes early, I was a half an hour late. ::sigh:: I tried to go to this church 2 times prior around jan/feb.... blizzards every time I wanted to go. Something is definitely keeping me away from this church. After the failed attempt I didn't give up on my holy crusade. I ended up going to Doug's church..... Pentecostal Holiness......... well that was weird. People waving their arms and shouting "that's right we're singing to you Jesus!" "We're not the frozen chosen!"......... ..... ....... but the message was a nice one. They had a guest minister up from VA beach. After that Doug invited me to Bowling that night. Then when I called to find out the time, he said it was canceled. Ditchy McAbandonPants continues.
Friday Donna and Aaron came down to visit from Jersey. We went out for sushi then played DDR for 3 hours. A good time was had by all.
Thursday indian dance lesson in DC..... then visited Erik and got to watch Pornicopia..... It's a documentary on the porn industry. Freaking hilarious. And I got to see Bigfoot Porn..... that's right. You understand correctly.
Wednesday Adam and I went out for Turkish food. Then we watched Golden Boy... then Juon.... then we were so freaked out we had to watch more golden boy. then we talked philosophy for a couple hours. 1:30 AM I went to sleep
Tuesday. Manu needed a ride to pick up his car. We went out for sushi. Chess and I lost a Brad Pitt Battle..... ::sigh:: Spite and Malice. Doug must have stacked the deck... a pile that good can't be natural. Then back to work at 10 pm to cert products..... damn being a slave of duty!
Monday. Manu invited me over to eat dinner with his grandma. Cheese & wine, lamb chops, birthday cake and 3 hours later I convinced manu to hang out to watch Tank girl and Family guy. Ah spending time with my favorite person.... priceless.
I could write more.... I went to Ohio Thursday - Sunday... got to see Kim, Troy, Mark & Melanie. Got to meet Starla, Annie, Amanda, Jess, & Rednecks (that I care not to remember.)
Chat with you peeps later.
