So I met my friend Doug tonight at the rocking coffee house on main street. You see he hasn't been able to make chess night for the last 2 weeks, so we figured the only way for a rematch was outside of Tuesday.
Well my mom gave me a chess set for christmas. It was packaged as a "fantasy" chess set, but since it's basically 'good guys' vs. 'bad guys' (and all the pawns on the good side are hobbits holding rings) everyone thinks it's actually a lord of the rings set.
Well Doug and I start to play and we decide to nominate one of the pawns on his side "FROTO." So we nominate one of the ones in the middle. He tries to back out of it saying that he doesn't want "FROTO" to die... He even tried to nominate one of the pawns on the castle side, but I staunchly defend his original choice. I even cut a circle out of my blue straw and put it around the ring as a psuedo force field to mark him as "FROTO".
Well the game continues about dead even until the end, when Doug pins me in the corner. "FROTO" has live to the end and he's 3 rows from my back border and uncomfortably close to my king. Well "FROTO" advances one last time and sacrifices himself. Doug's next move was Checkmate.... that's right "FROTO" sacrificed himself to take down the dark lord.
Doesn't that rock.
