Autor's note: I entertained head gamemaker as a career path and this is what happened. Essentially written for casterlys in the THG ficathon - prompt was an AU where Katniss didn't go back into the Arena and was a mentor instead.
Summary: It's a coincidence it rhymes with hell.

Dude, don't erase your comment at the ficathon! This is great; I loved it! KATNISS AND HAYMITCH TALKING TO EACH OTHER WITHOUT WORDS IS PERF. Aaaaahhh that whole scene with everything that was said but unsaid was gr11. And brother & sister tributes!!! So excellent, and totally a shot at Katniss cause of her whole sibling love thing. I was wondering what you'd decide to pick for a Quell "theme" (or whatever you want to call it) and this was awesome. And then the Quell design! That they would make sure that there was no room for error after the previous year--gr8. as was the twisted capture the flag game idea!

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND YOU ARE PERFECT.

Honestly, Haymitch and Katniss are probably my favorite relationship in the series aside from like, her and Finn/Jo but he gets neglected cause Collins turns him into the bad guy cause he goes behind her back but uuuuugh. I just love their relationship and I wish there was more to it. AND I'M SO HAPPY YOU LOVED IT SO MUCH.

Thank youuuu!!! I was extremely worried that people wouldn't take too well to the different feel of the games and how I wrote them/set them up. I'm glad you liked the idea better than the actual book and that you enjoyed it! :D

I always was sad that the QQ happened as it did. The few hints in THG that Katniss would have to become a mentor if she won and that would be her personal hell always made me want to see that, not the QQ that actually happened.

I'm glad someone ran with that idea. And I love the interaction between her and Haymitch here.

I definitely agree, I wanted her as a mentor, too because she was really conflicted with this idea when it started to become more apparent that it could be a reality. Even at the beginning of Catching Fire I was hopeful. Her getting thrown back into the Arena made the Quarter Quell have a smaller impact imo.
