judge and jury walk out hand in hand

jesus it's been a long time. It's already August, summer's almost gone and yet I'm not about to travel on, I still don't have a better job, etc.

New(ish) things I have:

-apartment
-semi-incontinent cat (not actually mine)
-4-track recorder
-machete

About a month ago a had a brief existential crisis when I was biking by Open Books at 11:30 at night and realized that I couldn't do anything. A little bit later I ended up at a queer dance party (and got invited to a queer makeout party but I couldn't make it) and that made things a bit better. Anyway it's less lack of talent that's the problem, and more lack of imagination, and I think I've improved on the latter since high school and college. Doesn't keep me from having regrets, but at some point I'll have to resign myself to the fact that when I'm 75 I'll still be keeping myself up at night thinking about things I failed to do when I was 17.

Currently reading Victor Serge's Memoirs of a Revolutionary. Talk about "all my friends are now dead or in jail." I don't think there are many people who believed in their ideals as much as he did, and yet were so unwilling to let people off the hook for horrors committed in pursuit of those ideals. Or perhaps there are, and they just tend to end up dead before they or anyone else can tell their story.
