I think that people are the greatest fun

Man, I meant to write something almost a week ago. Last weekend was the Capitol Hill Block Party, which I went to on Saturday. Pretty much every band I saw (Smoosh, Silversun Pickups, the Black Angels, and the Murder City Devils) was at least good, and my ears even recovered from the massive feedback droning of the Black Angels after a night's sleep. I felt a little out of place at the Murder City Devils; here were all these fans who knew every word of the songs, who had been waiting for this since 2001, and then there was me, who'd heard maybe five of their songs once. A girl I talked to had driven up from San Diego, and spent 20 hours in a car, in order to see them. It was still a great time, and everyone left really happy. Some guy wandered up to me and touched my hair after the show, just because he thought my hair was cool.

In other fun me-news, I have to go have an unpleasant dental procedure on Tuesday. Anyone want to give me drugs?

Currently reading:
Klaus Kinski's Kinski Uncut - Completely perverse, pornographic, hilarious autobiography. I'm about 115 pages in, and I think so far he's had sex with about half of Europe.

Arthur Lee is dead. It's sad. I kinda think everyone should hear Love (his band)'s Forever Changes. It's a very difficult record to dislike. And "7 and 7 Is" may be the perfect garage-rock song. It's worrying - too many fucked-up, gifted songwriters dying recently. Needs to stop.
