Eyes of a Child

This happens often:

"You DON'T know who [so and so] is!?"

And the only response I can ever really muster, trying to save as much explanation as possible, is that I simple do not care who they are. Society's principle of fame is funny like that. It has the opposite effect on me. The more the world wants to see of you, the less I know who you are.

There's no hidden principle here. No preachy message of avoiding television or how movies are bullshit and the culture around me in general is decided by the next big marketing fad. Nope. None of that. I simply do not care that someone is well known for pretending to be someone they are not, or for singing well, or teaching themselves to play the piano when they were six or for inventing a way for cars to run on human bullshit.

Those that use it as a springboard for things I actually do care for are few and far between. And even then, my head is so far up my own ass, I wouldn't notice them doing it anyway.

You maybe wondering what I do care about, then?

Don't worry about it. You'll know when you need to if you want to.
