Writer's Block: Pecking Order

Aug 21, 2009 01:02

I am a youngest child and it has definately influenced my personality. When I was young everybody babied me because, hey, that's what I was: the baby. My sister and cousins treated me like their favorite little doll, bringing me on pik-niks, going on walks, playing dress-up for sure.
Of course I was very sheltered, which has its pro's and con's, and that made my introduction to high school very entertaining while at the same time had caused me to learn some harsh lessons the first year.
I was very shy and kept to myself when I wasn't around friends- my brother and sister are seven and four years older than me so when they got into middle/high school I was somewhat left behind in the closeness department.
I guess I'm more glad to be a youngest than sad. I like having to grow up and learn things on my own but I love most that I can keep bonding with my siblings at this older age. Yes, I'm still whiny sometimes and get ticked off when I feel ignored but I do feel that being a youngest is both a curse and a blessing.
