OK, sorry about all the food posts lately. But I am very nervous about my quiche. It's the first time I've made it, you see, and it's for an office brunch tomorrow. I know, this is what I get for volunteering to bring something untried for public consumption...
Anyway, I found quiche recipes online...and this was the ingredient list for the one I settled on, because it looked easiest, and I already had some of the stuff in the fridge:
1 x 9" pie shell
10 oz. pkg. frozen chopped broccoli
8 oz. fresh mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 cup milk
3 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp margarine, melted
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp salt
1/2-1 tsp pepper
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
However, I didn't like some of it. So I changed it:
1 x 9" pie shell
1 cup fresh asparagus, chopped and slightly blanched
1 cup thinly sliced fresh mushrooms
2/3 cup organic skim milk, 1/3 cup organic half-n-half
3 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp. margarine, melted
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. each dried thyme and tarragon
1/2 cup each shredded parmesan and white cheddar
Otherwise, the cooking process was the same (bake crust a bit, throw veggies in crust, mix everything else and pour over veggies, bake)
It smells really good, but of course I can't taste it before I take it in. And instead of being fresh, it will have sat overnight in the fridge, alas.
I just really hope that it turns out...I will report back soon.
