North Carolina AMBER Alert System
The N.C. Center for Missing Persons is issuing a statewide AMBER Alert for Alder Martinez, an eight year old boy from Randolph County. The Asheboro Police Department made the request at 9:45 p.m. today for the alert after Alder Martinez was not returned to his family.
Earlier today an unknown black male approached the Martinez's residence to borrow jumper cables, claiming his vehicle was disabled. The Martinez's let the man borrow their silver Jeep Cherokee. Alder Martinez requested to ride with the unknown male and was granted permission to ride by family to ride with the unknown subject.
Alder is eight years old, Hispanic, 4' 6" tall and weighs about 80 pounds. He has dark hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and blue jeans. He has a scar on his right eye.
The abductor is an unknown black male, approximately 18-21 years of age. He is 5' 7" tall and has a slim build, with a diamond earring in one of his ears according to family members. He may be operating a stolen silver Jeep Cherokee with North Carolina registration VNX-2652.
The North Carolina AMBER Alert System is a voluntary cooperative effort between North Carolina radio and television broadcasters, local police departments and sheriff's offices. The system is operated by the N.C. Center for Missing Persons, which is part of the N.C. Department of Crime Control & Public Safety.
