Wow, Ive realised I rarely visit this site these days. I guess thats what happends when your harddrive randomly cross-links itself and dies, leaving all your carefully selected bookmark buttons BROKEN.
The irony of the above is that ill be gone for a month! TO EUROPE.
Send me emails, ill get them there, or back home. And try not to completely forget about Frank, he'll be back. Eventually...
I cannot wait to see my crazy relatives and hear all the uncensored stories of retarded ancestors and times gone by. Im going somewhere where I actually have an extended family, with grandparents and uncles and aunts and cousins, where a family gathering is more than five people, and a beer is equivalent to a welcome mat. I am going to stay in a mansion over a master-chefs restaurant with my uncle the mayor, take a road trip to italy, go sporting with some other uncle, laugh a lot, see my own family who I barely know, and get to find a little bit more out about myself somewhere along the way. Hungarian blood dictates I must drink all day and come out of it rock solid, so my relatives will take pains to make sure I do. I will try to learn to drive stick on the italian winding roads, and hopefully borrow the cousins vespa for some joyriding.
By blood, Hungary is home. My family lives there, my ancestors were among the first who settled down when the hunnish horde stopped its destruction and claimed the land that is now Hungary. I couldnt pretend it wasnt home if I tried, my relatives would kill me. The minute I was born thousands of miles away, they automatically let me into their lives and into their homes. Thrity years from now if I ended up somewhere in Hungary and found a relative, they would let me in the same and give me a beer. Its the home I visit once in a blue moon, and never for long. This time though, its a little different. Ive never been this excited to go to Hungary, and Ive been before. Maybe its because since the last time I went, I grew up, changed, became a completely different person.
Whatever the case, Im off at five pm tomorrow. I will see all of you in August, when the lakes are warm, the blackflies are gone, and the going is good! Take care of yourselves, and dont do anything I wouldnt do! Which leaves you free to do pretty much anything, except.. well no, that too.
Have a wicked July.
