I finished watching the The Hobbit and decided to rewatch the Lord of the Rings...
It was a mistake. The Hobbit was such a terrible adaptation, that the Lord of the Rings -and that ending- made me sob and sob and sob.
It was so well produced!! So vibrant, emotional, and magical.
In terms of magic, that should've fallen to the Hobbit since there's so much more light hearted triumph over evil and interesting creatures, but it fell flat over too long explanations and side stories, dragging out what was basically the essence of the plot till it turned rubbery and distasteful.
The LotR on the otherhand was so well done. It paced well, constantly moving in one direction, there's enough of the other characters to be kept to a wonder and lasting good impression, and yet best of all were the bonds between Frodo and Aragon, Aragon and Boromir, Boromir and the hobbits, and it makes me cry when they broke at the end. Poor Frodo :(
