Obviously the general meaning is, "I wanted to be by your side as your equal."
But the phrasing was weird, and this scene was quite confusing...
It makes much more sense in this English-translated chapter; however the anime-translation was right on as well. And it's not unusual for the anime to take dialogue straight out of the original manga...
So I'm confused which one is it?
Whatever...just getting Kasshim/Alibaba feels is enough I guess ^^
