That's what happens when it rains all the time, I fear mold will really start growing in murky-green, yellow-y fuzzy lumps out of my ears soon....

STOP RAINING.

Been reading up on manga lately, ever since I finished Psycho Pass I've been feeling a bit of a slump... PP was a great follow up to  Vassalord but Special A, which I wanted to be a light-hearted follow up, failed upon delivery. I have 0 incentive to continue on a show that does nothing. Everyone's annoying....there might've been something worth watching if they gave more fanservice and made twins Jun and Megumi do a threesome with Ryuuji. But no, they each discover their own special someone along the way and fall in love-ahhh. No. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
This is not satisfying at all. Just reading the spoilers on Wiki does not get me raging.

On the otherhand~ I randomly discovered Bokura no Kiseki, and YAAAAYYYYYYY for that! I wish I discovered it later since its only in its 7 volume and even that hasn't been released yet; found some quality chapters that is easy to immerse myself with and VIOLA, instant mind feed! This one takes me back; its a cross of that one manga...NG Life where this guy was the reincarnation of a gladiator or something and his fellow classmates/friends were his Ancient Roman friends, and he was trying to find his one true love, but his best friend's a girl now. and that one horror anime, Another, but it leans towards the former, don't worry, more intrigue and suspense than horror.

Basically, boy lives his entire life knowing he's the reincarnation of a magical kingdom's princess and an event during high school changes his entire life when a spark of light drew on the past memories of students' previous incarnations throughout the entire school; now the princess, i mean the main protagonist, is not alone and he is trying to restore order to a school who is suddenly flooded with the inhabitants of a world long passed and are still holding onto their previous lives'- allies and enemies alike. Will order be restored? Will everyone make it out alive?

It's such a fun concept and its shojo, so there's TONS of love trianges, complex plots and dialogue, but the characters are engaging and what I love most is their independent characters. You can really feel each character, some who you think are just side-characters, fall into place and play out their role while holding an individual personality. It's a really nice to see a large cast get fleshed out the way Another had; and unlike Another, the fleshing-out procession wasn't linear like a single-filed line, but more like a sphere growing in volume.
Since no one dies, its a bit of a hassle remembering who's who, especially since the art looks the same for most characters (this point, i really HATED because it got annoying having to go back and forth and checking out who's who; the problem would've simply been avoided if the author had, IDK, drawn more bald/short haired boys with spiked hairs, thicker eyebrows, varied heights, slanted/closed eyes or given them a mole on their face. BUT NO, they all look the damn same, the main pretty group is guilty of that. so THAT is annoying. same applies for the girls; AGGRAVATING)
So yeah, I enjoyed the series and I'm glad it didn't end on a hefty cliff-hanger, so I'll be waiting a few years patiently for more volumes to come out. Hopefully the story'll be done by volume 10...buuut since its a bi-monthly release series, I can't even make an educated guess since I don't know how long these series tend to be. ...well, so long as its not Jump with super short pages and loaded with 0 plot advancement.

Speaking of manga, I finished the rest of Fruits Basket today. I didn't get into the series when it was popular and thought it didn't quite live up to the hype that jostled the hearts of American fangirls; this is likely due to my more refined tastes in anime genre. But, I did dip into the FB intrigue a few years back after finally watching the anime; it was very disappointing in my opinion, but the manga was better and I liked the Rin/Haru story. Chasing some nostalgic Rin/Haru action, I decided to revisit their chapters and see their outcome. Initially I didn't bother with any of the other characters, especially the Yuki/Tohru/Kyo  triangle, and spent most of the volumes skipping for Rin/Haru sections. but eventually I got sucked into the whole Akito shebang. Which was a good thing since it was crucial to the final arc but more importantly, I didn't expect to fall in love with Akito's character. It was obvious that the main 3 were going to go in circles so it I knew I wasn't missing out when I skipped them, but the other characters, and Akito in particular, were very interesting once you factor out the main protagonists and their daily school lives/pals.
I doubt I'll go back to this series but I enjoyed the final arc and the satisfying happy ending. The whole 'I forgive you and let's be friends' bit, was cheesy and over the top (no one is THAT nice, says my cynical mind)  and really, the violence, the physical and emotional abuse that transpired is really unforgivable in my opinion, but Akito's pain (not really her fault) is understandable too. Touru's compassion towards Akito's plight, empathy toward's Akito's pain, fear and loneliness translated and matched well with Akito's storyline. The execution was done excellently even though it felt too goody-two-shoes.
I also enjoyed the dark mindgames played between Akito and Shigure...now usually these were a major turn-off, but likely due to my maturing sadomaso tastes, it was very entertaining, like eating a bit of dark chocolate while drinking rich, warm, hot milk chocolate. I blame Sadahiro Mika for my sadistic enjoyment  >_<''

Now I'm nostalgic for Ghost Hunt XD
