I drove all over the country when I left LA. Hell, got all the way to Arizona with 4 speeding tickets before I even noticed the sign Angel left as a going away present. Can't believe anyone ever thought the guy had no sense of humor. Never stopped looking over my shoulder for the retrainers to show up. Cause you don't just walk away from Wolfram and Hart. Evil hand with a gun or not, you don't walk away until they are ready to let you go.

I reckon they were ready to let me go, because the re-trainers never showed up. Still looked for them in every new town, at every gas station, hell, I looked for them in my dreams. Cept' they never came to my dreams. Only one person visited me there and that was Darla. I saw her everywhere I went. The sweet little waitress who served my coffee black and my eggs over easy in Dallas. The bartender at the roadhouse I sang at in Kansas.

The countless nameless girls I'd take home with me at night. Petite blonds with haunting eyes. Not that I had a type. She followed me everywhere I went.

Should have figured she'd be the way the firm brought me back. They didn't need to send re-trainers after me. Instead they sent me a file. Reckon I should have known they were keeping close enough tabs on me to know which town to send the file too. Wolfram and Hart excelled at surveillance.

She's pregnant. Darla's pregnant. No idea how or if the kid is mine, but I have to find out. She went to Angel.

Fucking Angel. When is she going to learn he can't help her? I'm the one who will move mountains to protect her. Forever and always, like the lovesick fool I am since I first met her.

They want me back at the firm. Maybe I will give them what they want. Not until I talk to Darla. Got to find out what is going on with her. Have to find out what she needs before I can make any other decisions.

So, that's why I'm back in LA. Wonder if anyone missed me.
