I'd been up in my room all day....ok, well all month. I hadn't really talked to anyone for about that long and I hadn't heard anyone moving around in the hallway either. Had they all left me here? Have I been all alone up here in this room while they high-tailed it out of here? I really, really hoped not, because if they were all gone, and I was up ( Read more... )

I gave him a shy smile as I took another bite of rice and chicken. I didn't know exactly how to ask him if he would teach me....and...tutor me. I wanted to be a part of the team and the best way I knew how to do that was with my brain.

I wasn't and would never be a fighter. I had legs like a chicken and arms like string beans. I couldn't hurt a demon with my limbs, but with my mind...if it was well armed...I could really do some damage and then...then maybe Angel and everyone else would want to keep me around.

I swallowed and took a deep breath and tried to explain exactly what the favor was and why I wanted it. "Well...I was wondering if you would teach me all about spells and potions and demon languages and the mystical side of the company. And..the reason I ask is because..I don't want to be a burden to anyone anymore and I know that trying to help in a fight with some big nasty demon would only get me hurt and maybe someone else and that would be really bad...but I'm pretty smart and I learn real fast and if you could teach me how to help with research and things like that, then I'd be an asset to the team and I wouldn't..." I trailed off and softly whispered, "I wouldn't have to leave..."

She sounds so sad when she says she'd have to leave if she wasn't an asset to the team. Actually I'd be sad to watch her leave as well. I've become accustomed to her being around. Or, not around. But she's here now and trying so very hard.

"Actually, Fred," I start with a fond smile. "That's a very good idea and just what I was thinking. Are you a mind reader as well now?" I wink at her. "If you want I can teach you how to do those things, that wouldn't be a problem. It would help me a great deal. I'm the only one around here, as you can see, who's willing to do some research." More like obsessed with it, but let's not mention that. I've been called a dork enough by Cordy for that.

"We...We could start off with languages and some simple spells and potions and then we'll see how fast you pick things up." I nod at myself while already making a schedule in my mind. "I'm sure you'll be a fast student." This is excellent. I didn't even have to ask her myself. I was rather weary of that. I don't know how far one can push her. Wouldn't want her to run off into her room again. That would be really sad for such a sunshine girl.
