I was watching the end of The Human Footprint tonight on Channel 4 (incidentally, David Tennant needs to be allowed to speak in his own accent more often). There were a couple of bits that shocked me - for example, over 40% of people choose not to read books at all, and there are now more households with two cars than two books. That's just crazy. Also, the average person reads approx. 500 books in their lifetime. I know I've read many times that already. I guess that shows how difficult it can be to try to draw a picture of the "average" person. Another shocker, in a different kind of way, is how the 1700 people you know will die. How many from cancer, how many in car accidents...

Kittens doing well - their eyes are changing colour, they are all little fuzzballs, and tame as can be. When I bring them inside, they run around, but as soon as I sit on the ground, they come running. I don't know how long that will last, but I like it!

I had a test for the Diplomatic service here last Friday. The test was split into three parts - "Verbal Reasoning", "Mathematical Reasoning" and "Job Simulation". It was only necessary to pass the maths, and the combined score of the other two tests determine how many go through to the next round. I was talking to someone beforehand who had found out* that there were 6000 sitting this test for Junior Diplomat and Administrative Officer. He didn't know how many spaces there were for AO, but there's only 15 for Junior Diplomat... Also, the calculator I borrowed for the test decided to work everything otu in fractions, so I'm not entirely happy with my chances of passing. Oh well.

I am now dolescum. It took a while, as St Andrews kept sending letters to the wrong address to say I had finished.

I have no more news. :(
