Ah, the sweet taste of a Friday before a three day weekend!  Here I am again telling you about what things have caught my fancy.

First off, there is the internet sensation from this past week: Strong Female Characters!  From the minds of Carly Monardo, Meredith Gran and Kate Beaton comes some delightful cultural commentary on media’s interpretation of “strong characters, female” to mean “strong female characters.”  I’m assuming that the few people who actually read my ramblings have already seen this collaboration, but I just wanted to put my two cents in on how awesome it all is.  If you haven’t seen them yet, check out the initial sketches and completed comics featuring the Strong Female Characters.  It will be well worth the time you take out from refreshing twitter/tumblr/facebook/etc.  (I’m not judging, because I do all three of those things on a more than a daily basis.)

Second comes the buttons of Deth P. Sun.  Sun has been an artist that I’ve followed since how ever many years ago when I stumbled across him on the internet.  It was probably due to a show he was having with Giant Robot.  Ever since then, I’ve kept an eye on his website to see what things he’s been creating and while his painting are often out of my price range (I was able to purchase one a few years ago and he made an awesome surprise of one when I ordered a shirt), but his buttons are tiny pieces of art that are within the budget of most folks.  Over the years, I’ve amassed a little collection and I’m sure that I’ll be collecting many more as the days go on.  If you’d like to get yourself some of these guys, you can check out his store on his site or check out his etsy shop.

The last thing for this Friday is the Song Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus. A nice little piece of the year 2000, which if you watch the embedded video, you will notice in the fashion of the members. I can’t help but sing along whenever this song comes on the radio. A nice tidy story of the outcast getting the girl, although the video implies that it was all a dream.
