Plants vs Zombies was released this week for the Xbox 360 and I snatched it right up.  Having played through the PC version before, I knew that it was worth the $20 I spent buying Microsoft points (the actual game costs the equivalent of $15 in Microsoft points, but they don’t let you buy them that way).

The basic premise: You are a homeowner and there are zombies.  The only way to defend your house is using plants that exhibit a special fighting spirit and the power of the sun, which comes sun producing Sunflowers and Sun-shrooms.  Your neighbor Crazy Dave pops up to sell you things and play mini-games.

The Xbox version also brings in Co-op and Versus play so it’s not just for one person anymore.  Haven’t tried out the Versus yet, but I think I’m going to choose zombies for my first time.

The Buckethead Zombie is pretty annoying because of that bucket.  When the zombies have anything on their heads, it adds that extra level of protection that takes longer to get through.  Not the most annoying, but still annoying.

The left is the new Dancing Zombie.  The old Dancing Zombie, on the right, was obviously based on Michael Jackson from the Thriller video, but his estate wanted him out, so now it’s a Disco Zombie.  It works, but not as good.

The basic fighting units are Pea Shooters, my favorite is the Snow Pea because its capabilities to hurt and slow down the zombies.  Also fairly inexpensive comparatively to other units.

Wall-Nuts and Tall-Nuts are purely defensive and very good at their job.  They stand their ground as the zombies spend extra time to chomp through them.  The Tall-Nuts have the advantage of blocking the Pole Vaulting Zombies.

I recommend that everyone play this game to hone their skills for the coming zombie apocalypse.  You can never be too prepared.
