Interview from Dragonshyne

Apr 12, 2006 15:59

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

1. How's it feel, to have such a sweetie peaty mushy squuushy love life, with your hubby? Do you realize we're all jealous? ;o)
It feels wonderful and I do know how very lucky I am! I waited 40 darned years for him to show up in my life. Being single for that long, and dating a ton frogs, made me appreciate him all that much more. I was engaged a couple times, lived with one guy for years, but no relationship was ever as good for me as this one. Don't get me wrong, it is not all sweetness and light. We sometimes argue like crazy and we are both pretty stubborn. Some days I'd really like to thwap him up side the head. But in the end he is my very best friend, and we love and respect each other very much.  You'll find yours, I just know it! &;o)

2. Do you miss living on a ranch, and working sheep?
The answer to this one is yes and no. It's kind of nice to live less than a mile from a gorcery store, instead of a 45-minute drive. That can be a real hassle when you run out of toilet paper or feminine supplies, trust me. I don't miss the electricity going out at least once a week in the winter. I do not miss septic tank problems! I do not miss finding racoons, snakes and mountain lions, etc., in my front yard. Or mice and tree frogs always getting in the house. I used to have to turn the light on and check the toilet if I went in the middle of the night to make certain the little tree frogs were not in there and about to jump on my bare bum. I do miss the beautiful and fragrant spring wildflowers and the emerald green of the grassy hills. I miss my oldest ewe, Angel, baaa-ing quietly to me in greeting as I walked out the back door to feed the sheep each morning and evening. I miss the spring lambing season when my maternal instincts would kick in and I worried over each baby lamb as if it were my own. I miss sitting quietly next to the lambing pen and watching all the lambs run and play together, and bounce around like their legs were springs. Have you ever heard the expression "Faster than two shakes of a lambs' tail"? Those babies are fast! I miss the quiet of living more than a half mile from any paved road. I miss hearing the frogs chirping down at the pond on a warm evening. I miss the barn owls hooting at me at dusk from the water tower near my house. I miss taking my Border Collies out to work the sheep and everything goes just right in training for an upcoming sheepdog trial, or just having fun taking them for long walks/runs across the ranch.

3. Do you enjoy being a woman, in a man's computer geeky world?
Ha! You know I was kind of one of a few women back in the day. Men often didn't take me seriously in that kind of job. I remember once, when I was an assistant network manger, and our department manage wanted to take me out for lunch on Secretaries Day. WTF!? Needless to say, we did NOT go out to lunch! Working here at NPS is great because for some odd reason the ratio of women to men in the IT department is higher than I have ever seen. I'd say we are at least 50/50 on that front... hoooray!

4. One year ago, did you ever imagine in a million years you'd be singing & dancing karaoke at a bar, in front of people... and how do you feel about that?
I would have told you that you were crazy if you thought I was going to do that, LOLOL! Now I think it is so much fun and I think I am comfortable doing that with you all because I am so comfortable with you and your friendship. I have always been a bit shy when I first meet people. Plus, I don't care what I look like up there cuz I know the guys are all checking out YOU! Or PeniFan, or TASmina, et al! I am your best background singer/dancer after all, remember!

5. What's your secret to staying so upbeat & smiley, even though at times you'd love to throttle someone?
That takes very hard work. Honest, it does! I suffered from major depression several years back. I was always good at hiding how bad I felt under a facade of being the happy, perky girl. Now, after some medication and really good therapy, I can be honestly mostly happy. Does that make sense? I have lived through some really rough times, both as a child, and an adult. Right now I realize my life is certainly far from perfect, but I am lucky to have the important things in life, which I did not have for many, many years. As I said earlier today... I am alive and healthy, have a good paying job, a roof over my head, a nice car to drive, and best of all.... a loving husband. I think all that does make me a very blessed woman. Also, being positive, supportive and upbeat for the people in my life (like my Dad & Step-Mom) is important right now. I am not going to be one to bring them down or add more stress to their lives during this difficult time.

Whew! I went off didn't I!?
