I was in my local second hand book store the other day and I found this book:
It even has pretty drop caps inside and a butterfly on the hard cover:
It's quite old, though I don't know how old because it doesn't say and my internet-fu has failed me. It was published between the first edition (which this doesn't appear to be if the pictures on the internet are correct) which was published in 1983 and the second book in the series (because in the blurb it says Pierce is still writing it) which was first published in 1984. It looks to be a UK edition, maybe the first? I already owned it in a much more modern cover but I thought it was pretty (especially the red cover underneath the jacket).
Can anyone interpret this for me? My 98 copy of the book says which edition it is. This doesn't mention that at all.
I also found the last 3 of the series in the 98 edition (which I've been looking for longer than I can remember (any Tamora Pierce is rare in Anne's because it gets snaffled up so quickly). It's my favorite cover art of all for this series. I'll probably keep an eye out for a less damaged copy of the first one though.
AND I also found a copy of Hatchet by Gary Paulsen (also been looking for ages). Had a VERY lucky day!
/end me geeking out about books.
On to the baking!
I found a cupcake recipe book at work and here are the results:
Apple and honey cupcakes.
The recipie was for honey and fig cupcakes but I didn't have any figs. Granny Smith apples probably would have worked better than the Pink Ladys (which was all we had) but they were yummy all the same. I'm going to try these with some different fruits too like maybe lemons or perhaps bananas.
Orange cream chocolate cupcakes.
I put these in the fridge after I took the picture on the left and the chocolate got all hard on top. So they're like mint slice biscuits but orange and they're cupcakes.
