The NEA Jazz show was incredible...I was even a VIP as my dad's escort! Met some people who had big jobs, gave me a chance to sharpen my networking skills. But the best part was the music. I shared space with Nancy Wilson. Heard her speak, heard her sing...They honored old timers in the business for a long time and the recipients' speeches were very moving, but during performances, they let up-and-comers play and improvise with the old pros. I felt overall really good to just be with my dad because I know how much he loves jazz and how much he really wanted to be there. I was glad to share something that I know was meaningful to him, especially after so much has happened lately with him.

Afterwards we snuck out just before the crowds and decided to go to Connolly's for a drink. We had an Irish bartender named Graham. Shot the shit with my dad and kind of asked me to come back on Sunday night. Too bad I'm actually going away that night...but he's working every night except Saturday. Maybe I'll go back on Friday when I'll be back in town. Why look too eager anyway? Bartenders don't really go anywhere.

My old babysitter e-mailed me saying that she's getting married in April! For someone who had 2 kids right after high school with two different guys, this is a story gone good for a girl I've looked up to and thought of as an awesome babysitter when I was little. The best thing is that the kids are happy and he was a childhood friend of hers and they know each other so well. They couldn't be better off now.

Susie got into Cambridge Uni for grad school! I actually had forgotten that she was applying to grad school and I didn't expect a good answer in so little time. I'm so proud of her too. Sky's hubby found a job in TX after he graduated too. I'm getting such good news from my girls, I'm so happy!
