Smallville:Echo My Thoughts

Oct 17, 2009 22:55

So, I was really excited about this episode and in a lot of ways in did live up to my expectations. The first half of the episode had all of things I've come to love about Smallville. Chloe finally had something to do outside of watchtower. We got to see some Tess/Oliver interaction, correct me if I'm mistaken but I believe its the first time Ollie and his Merci have actually shared screen time since season 9 started. And the flirty banter that is one of the things I enjoy most about Clois was front and center.

However, I was disappointed by how most of these threads were connected in the second half. As much as I enjoy the character of Chloe and think AM does an amazing job playing her. I'm tired of her being portrayed as the smartest person on the canvas. I mean its basically Chloe that saves the day. By emptying out the building and tracking down the TOYMAN. Seriously your telling me "Superman" couldn't have figured a way of trigger the fire alarm himself. Can you say heat vision + sprinkler system? I'll give her Oliver since he's currently drowning in barrel of self pity. (side note did love the Clark/Oliver interaction).

Also why did all this saving have to be at the detriment of the Clois' budding relationship. To quote a friend of mine,"Is it weird I think Clark shows Lois more affection as the blur? when She's UNCONCIOUS, then as Clark?" And I completely agree. And maybe I'm being to hard on Clark but he totally disregarded Lois feeling by #1 not even calling her to tell her he couldn't make it. And #2 by then not even apologizing when she shows up at the Ace of Clubs. So, I totally think that sharing a by-line with her not enough of a sorry in my book. I mean he read her mind for crying out loud he totally knew how much he hurt her feelings!!! And yes its important that he "Go be a Hero" as Oliver put it but Lois is supposed to be his essential person. And I'm still not getting that from Clark. Oddly enough getting that from the Blur, can you say D.I.D(Dissociative Identity Disorder for all the non-pysch mayors). So yes all the mind reading was adorable. And the stealing of the donut from the intern to give to Lois was beyond dreamy but it was all IMHO clouded by his total lack of disregard for her feelings. And maybe I would be less upset if it actually felt to me like he was sorry. I apologize if I'm beating a dead horse with this one but I can't help myself. The hypothetical conversation just didn't do it for me. Also don't care for Lois being portrayed with her heart on her sleeve reading to jump at a date with Clark. Love ED but not happy with that at all. I think Clark needs to appreciate her loyalty and her understanding. Since she's the only woman in his life whose never harassed him about the obvious secret that he's keeping.

The one character that actually made me happy for the entire episode was Tess she was bad ass throughout and I loved it. Her Lara Croft tomb raider impersonation was awesome. And can't wait to see what more trouble she causes. Also with the new toy she gave TOYMAN could a return of BAG's Metallo be in the cards.

When all said and done, I truly enjoyed how involved all of the characters were in this episode. And once again am anxiously awaiting for next episode.

Good TV should make you excited and keep you involved. And even when I was mad at Clark I never took my eyes off the screen. So once again good job Smallville, this is one amazing season so far.
