Hello Raksha! I'll reply here as well to your FFN review (for which, many thanks!) - I hope that's all right? :)

To begin, thanks so much as ever for reviewing! I totally want Dior to win the whole time I'm writing this, it breaks my heart a little that Canon Says he can't. :'( I'm so very, very glad you like him! Dior is entirely and wholly my Author's Darling at the moment. (I hope that doesn't show toooooo much, though.) And I totally agree that he doesn't get enough attention. What we also don't get, come to think about it, is enough about Beren; and I know I'm not really making up for it here, with most of the focus on Luthien, but one day I will. This piece is so much a companion to Nightingales that I don't feel the need right now to do more than hint that I haven't forgotten Beren, as Daeron wanted to.

How the Sindar lost, well, I've been having this conversation with Robinka, but in short: my reasoning is that the Sindar have a massive advantage in labyrinth-fighting but are at a massive disadvantange in fighting en masse, which is where the Noldor will get them. My university course involves a certain amount of (ancient) military history, so that's where what little I know of strategy and tactics comes from (well, along with games like Rome Total War). I have a tendency to default to Greek hoplite mode, but a little concentration gets around that. :D

It is indeed Erestor killing Canyator in the dark. The immediate parallel is Dior and Celegorm, of course, but I also wanted to set up parallels with the Glorfindel piece. That's not terribly important right now, though. And I certainly haven't forgotten little Elwing. Not to give too much away, my current plan is to end in about four chapters with the escape of those who survive, and since Canon (for once) Says...

Again, as ever, thanks so much for your comments! It's always wonderful to hear your thoughts. I'm so glad you're enjoying the story! :)

Well, I never was a Celegorm fan; and here, Dior shows he is not only a fine swordsman, but has great self-control, which is to be praised, considering that Celegorm is old-as-the-light-of-the-Two-Trees and Dior was born yesterday in Elven terms.

I like to think that maybe some kindly Avari found Elured and Elurin and saved them, and that the twins stayed out of Elf wars and politics thereafter. If they were very young, they might not have known who their parents were.

Awaiting the conclusion with racing heart...

I don't think any of the Feanorions were very good at keeping a cool head in this sort of situation, or they might not have ended up in such a mess so very often. And I'd like to think the children survived as well, but I tend to be more pessimistic. :'(

Oh well. I hope the rest of the story doesn't disappoint you!
